Exactly 138 years ago – 29 January 1886 – Karl Benz submitted a patent for his car, marking the birth of the automobile.

The car had a petrol engine, electric ignition, carburetor, cooling system, transmission, and brakes. The chassis was made of steel tubes and the rear wheels were mounted on a rigid axle with elliptical springs. The decision to equip the car with three wheels was due to the peculiarities of the steering, the handle of which was located in the center of the car.
